Massage options

Swedish Massage: Benefits of this well-known technique include: generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation. During this massage the client is covered with a sheet and only the area being worked on is exposed. A combination of kneading, rolling, and tapping movements are used during this massage.

Heated/Cold Stone Massage: Basalt stones of various sizes can be heated and used in conjunction with a Swedish massage. Benefits of heated stones include warming the body to a deeper level, deeper relaxation, and aiding with chronic pain. Cooled stones aid in inflammation, moving blood out of injured areas, and balancing energies.

Prenatal Massage: Specific techniques can reduce pregnancy discomforts and enhance the well-being of the mother and fetus. Prenatal massage can aid in shortened labor times, while easing pain and anxiety. Pregnancy massage should not be given during the 1st trimester unless prescribed by a physician/midwife.

Infant Massage/Instruction: This specialized form of massage is successful in weight gain, as well as creating a strong bond between parent and infant while exposing the child to the benefits of touch.

Deep Tissue Massage: This massage helps with chronic muscular pain and injury and reduces inflammation-related pain. Deep Tissue Massage can be used with other massage techniques (often Swedish) or given alone to specific regions of the body. Clients will use a pain scale in conjunction with the work of the therapist during this session. These sessions are given in 15-30 min time-frames.

Sports Massage: This is a type of Swedish massage that stimulates circulation of the blood and lymph. Sports massage is great for people with injuries, chronic pain, or restricted range of motion. It is also ideal for pre and post athletic events.
